Cotton Yarn Producer Zexiang Highlights Innovative New Products

Shandong Zexiang Textile Co. is bringing innovative new products to the global textiles marketplace, targeting the U.S., Europe, Japan and Korea as important new markets.

The company was established in 2001 as a specialist in cotton processing, weaving and spinning, and achieved rapid sales growth, with annual sales of approximately US $10 million. Zexiang developed a unique, "twist-less" cotton yarn, and in 2005, invented a revolutionary twist-less cotton fabric, which is extremely soft and absorbent. The company received the Shandong Province Product Innovation Prize for this exciting new product.

"We have developed a great novelty yarn that results in a very soft hand and excellent water absorbency," explains Ma Yucheng, general manager. "A cotton yarn is normally twisted with relatively high turns per meter in Z-twist. This twisting

is responsible for a relatively hard cotton yarn, which in the final product such as a sleepwear reduces the softness considerably. In our process, a single cotton yarn for pile is doubled with a PVA yarn. Then, the doubled ends are twisted in the reverse direction. By this method the cotton yarn itself becomes untwisted. It is covered by the PVA yarn, which functions as reinforcement yarn during subsequent processing. The PVA yarn is eliminated, making the final cotton yarn twist-less. Sleepwear produced with twist-less cotton have a wonderful soft touch and excellent absorbency."
